Today we'll take a look at the Phrygian Dominant scale. When a scale is Dominant, it means that it has a major third and a minor seventh. That means that a Phrygian dominant scale is a phrygian mode with a major third.

Learn how to play most commonly used 7th chords (Dominant 7 chords) such as A7, E7, D7 and others.

We go through 4 chord inversion on 4 adjacent treble strings, 4 adjacent middle strings and 4 adjacent bass strings. These inversion are all the dominant voicings that you`ll be needing in order to make some great funk riffs or vamps.

How does the dominant pentatonic scale work? It sounds great over 7 chords and has five notes: root, major 2nd, major 3rd, perfect 5th and minor 7th. It has an "outside" sound and can be useful in a jazz/fusion context.

Give any scale a major 3rd and a minor 7th, you'll get the dominant version of that scale. Today we'll talk about the Lydian Dominant scale.
